Gilbert Lima was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1967.  One of six siblings, he is the son of Cuban immigrants who came to the United States in 1961, looking for a better life in a free country.  He moved to Tampa, Florida at age 8, and this has been home ever since.  At age 21, he got married and remains happily married to his wife of twenty years.  They have four children, one daughter age 14, and three sons ages 4, 6, and 15.  Gilbert started in the mortgage business in 1993 with Chase Manhattan, there, due to his outstanding performance, he was promoted to leader of his group, and given new responsibilities.  He found himself enjoying the mortgage side of the business so much that he started taking courses, and eventually decided to obtain his own mortgage broker license.  In 2001, he came on board to Mortgage Corporation of America.  He realized that this would be a great learning experience since it would allow him to deal with the different needs of his clients, and also be able to offer the programs best suited for them.  He remain with the company for five years. In august of 2006, a great opportunity appeared when he was offered a position at Excel Mortgage Network, Inc. He is also a Jumbo Loans specialist, he receives many realtor referrals of this type of loans because they trust him with any large purchases of primary residences, second homes, or investment properties.  Being fully bilingual has allowed Gilbert to help many Spanish speaking clients seeking services in their native language.  His great success is mostly due to his willingness to work hard, to never give up, and to give everyone the best possible service, this has also allowed him to create wonderful friendships with many of the realtors and clients he has worked with.
